The Malabon City government inaugurated the 12 new "Ahon" rescue boats and a water tanker in line with the observance of the National Disaster Resilient Month at the Malabon Sports Complex, on Monday, July 1.

Mayor Jeannie Sandoval led the inauguration, along with Congressman Ricky Sandoval, Malabon City Police Station (MCPS) chief Col. Jay Baybayan, Malabon City Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Office (MDRRMO) head Roderick Tongol, personnel from Bureau of Fire Protection (BFP), and city councils.
According to the city’s public information office, the water tanker has a capacity of 4000 liters, while the 12 boats will be used by the MDRRMO for rescue and emergency operations during floods.
After the ceremony, members of MDRRMO conducted a fire drill to demonstrate rescue procedures, including scenarios wherein victims might fall into a river, and the use of the city’s newly acquired rescue boats.
The inauguration ceremony was part of Mayor Jeannie Sandoval’s second State of the City Address.
“Ito na ang panAHON, walang maiiwan sa Malabon (This is the time, no one will be left behind in Malabon),” Sandoval said.
