Ubas, 30, leapt 7.85 meters -- his new season-best --  to rule the event with Hong Kong’s Ming Tai Chan (7.75) and Kyrgyzstan's Timur Isakov (7.42) settling for the silver and bronze, respectively.

It was a fitting followup for the Misamis Oriental native after his successful stints in Taiwan, Thailand and Kazakhstan meets.

Just last Sunday, June 30, Ubas missed the Paris qualifying mark of 8.27m and failed to land a spot in the Top 32 with only 1,179 points to show for 44th place in the World Athletics rankings.

Currently, EJ Obiena of pole vault is the lone bet for athletics in the Paris Games.

Other track stars expected to join Obiena in the French capital are hurdlers Lauren Hoffman and John Cabang Tolentino and sprinter Kristina Knott.
