Jeepney driver yields P6.8-M shabu in buy-bust

CEBU CITY – Packs of suspected shabu worth P6.8 million were seized from a public utility jeepney (PUJ) driver in a buy-bust operation here at dawn on Monday, July 1.

The 47-year-old suspect, Baldo, was arrested in Sitio Sindulan, Barangay Mabolo.

Police said the contraband weighed more than a kilo.

Police Major Romeo Caacoy Jr., chief of the Mabolo police station, said Baldo was considered as a regional high-value target.

Caacoy said that apart from Cebu City, the suspect was also responsible for the distribution of illegal drugs in neighboring cities and in the northern part of Cebu province.

“He really has a big area of operation," Caacoy said.

Caacoy added that the suspect was capable of selling one kilo of shabu a week.

The suspect allegedly disclosed during the police interrogation that a contact was tasked to deliver illegal drugs to his house.

The suspect received his supply of illegal drugs through an inmate, police said.
