The National Economic and Development Authority (NEDA) will hold regional consultations to address gaps in the Trabaho Para sa Bayan plan program, the Department of Labor and Employment (DOLE) said on Monday, July 1.
In an interview with Super Radyo dzBB, DOLE Secretary Bienvenido Laguesma said the results would be submitted to President Ferdinand “Bongbong” Marcos Jr., which will be implemented beyond his term.
He added that there are another four years to meet the mandated 10-year National Employment Master Plan Law.
Laguesma said industries in health-related services, tourism, construction, information technology-business process outsourcing, energy, agriculture, education, and the creative industries have the potential to create employment opportunities for Filipinos.
“Malaking bahagi ng panggagalingan ng de kalidad na trabaho ay nasa manufacturing. Syempre bahagi din yung transportation and logistics (High-quality work is often the result of effective processes in manufacturing, transportation, and logistics)," he said.
Laguesma added that the Trabaho Para sa Bayan program also seeks to provide employment prospects for disadvantaged and at-risk groups like persons deprived of liberty, young individuals, and women.
The NEDA director general would chair the Trabaho Para sa Bayan Inter-Agency Council.
The secretaries of the DOLE, Department of Trade and Industry, Department of the Interior and Local Government, Department of Budget and Management, Department of Finance, and the Technical Education and Skills Development Authority's director general would be members of the inter-agency council.
Laguesma said the council would include members from labor organizations, employer organizations, the informal sector, as well as marginalized and vulnerable sectors.
