Rain showers to persist in western Luzon due to 'habagat'
The Philippine Atmospheric, Geophysical and Astronomical Services Administration (PAGASA) on Sunday, June 9 said the southwest monsoon or “habagat” may continue to bring rain showers across western Luzon.
PAGASA Weather Specialist Grace Castañeda said the habagat is expected to prevail across the western section of Luzon for at least the next two days.
Over the next 24 hours, Palawan may experience cloudy skies with scattered rain showers and thunderstorms.
PAGASA warned that flash floods or landslides may occur in Palawan due to moderate to heavy rainfall.
Also due to habagat, Metro Manila, Cavite, Laguna, Batangas, Rizal, Quezon, Oriental Mindoro, Occidental Mindoro, Marinduque, Romblon, Batanes Babuyan Islands, Zambales, Bataan, and Ilocos Region may have partly cloudy to cloudy skies with isolated rain showers or thunderstorms.
Meanwhile, the rest of the country will continue to experience partly cloudy to cloudy weather with isolated rain showers or thunderstorms.
PAGASA also warned the public about possible flash floods or landslides during severe thunderstorms.
Castañeda said PAGASA has not monitored any weather disturbance that may affect the country in the coming days.
