Mayor Marcos Mamay's dual pursuits in politics and the arts

How does Mayor Marcos Mamay balance his political career with his involvement in the arts and entertainment industry? 

The Mayor of Nunungan, Lanao del Norte, shares his approach to balancing his political career with his passion for the arts and entertainment industry. He humbly remarks, "Time management is key. Of course, my priority is always my constituents. I became interested in the entertainment industry after producing the movie 'Mamay, The Great Man of Nunungan.' Madami din kaming talent here in Mindanao. My vision is to give them a chance to be recognized." 

His involvement in the industry was further solidified when he became an Executive Adviser for the Actor's Guild of the Philippines under the chairmanship of Imelda Papin. 

"Madam Imelda and I have known each other for a long time. I have always been a consistent supporter of her projects. So, when I was offered a position in the Guild, I couldn't refuse," shared Mayor Mamay.

"I would also like to extend my warmest congratulations to Madam Imelda for being appointed as one of the Board Members of PCSO (Philippine Charity Sweepstakes Office). Alam ko na malaki ang maiaambag niya dahil talang nasa puso niya ang pagtulong," he added.

Mayor Mamay has also expressed his enthusiastic support for Gerald Santos' upcoming concert, 'Grateful', at the Music Museum on June 30. 

Santos, who performed the theme song 'Hamon' for the movie 'Mamay', composed by Vehnee Saturno, has been a long-time favorite of the mayor. 

"I said this before, matagal na akong fan ni Gerald. I'm very thankful na napagbigyan niya ako sa request ko na siya ang umawit ng theme song ng movie ko," he said. 

 Mayor Mamay recently received the esteemed Transformative Leader in Municipal Governance award at the Asia's Golden Icon Awards on May 31. 

 In his acceptance speech, Mayor Mamay expressed profound gratitude to the organizers, particularly Dr. Ronnel P. Ybanez. "I am deeply thankful to all award-giving bodies who recognize my efforts to make Nunungan, Lanao del Norte competitive with other places. This award is dedicated to all the Mayors of the Philippines," said Mamay, who also serves as the National Vice President of the League of Municipalities of the Philippines (LMP).

His attendance at the 10th World Water Forum in Indonesia highlights his commitment to tackling water-related issues both locally and globally. Mayor Mamay emphasized the critical importance of water conservation and sanitation: "Water conservation is essential for several reasons, foremost among them being the necessity of clean water for human survival. Access to clean water is crucial not only for sustaining life but also for preventing numerous water-borne diseases, which significantly impact the quality of life." 

Balancing his commitment to public service and passionate support for the entertainment industry is no easy task, but Mayor Mamay manages to excel through sheer dedication. The film "Mamay, The Great Man of Nunungan" is set to be released this year. 

Mayor Mamay also hinted at other projects in the pipeline under his Mamay Productions, although details remain undisclosed at this time. "This is my simple way of contributing to the entertainment industry. I hope we receive support so that we can continue to produce more projects.''
