Mayor Honey urges senior citizens to update records, biometrics

Manila Mayor Honey Lacuna-Pangan urged senior citizens in the city to cooperate with their barangay leaders in updating their records and biometrics.
The mayor explained that the capturing of biometrics is meant to update list and information of the senior citizens for the purpose of guiding the city in the distribution of the social amelioration package (SAP) for the elderly sector.
It will also be used for the senior citizens' Manila Residents Identification Card (MRID) pursuant to a city ordinance institutionalizing the city's identification system of its residents.
The updating of records and biometricts will start in Districts 1 and 2 on Friday, June 14, from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m.
She also called on the heads of the city's 896 barangays to effectively disseminate information to all senior citizens in the city.
Public Employment Service Office (PESO) head Fernan Bermejo also directed the Manila Barangay Bureau to give the schedule to the barangay leaders of the city's six districts.
The city government said the barangay authorities are expected to inform the residents within their respective areas of jurisdiction.
The process will be handled by personnel from the Electronic Data Processing Office headed by Fortune Palileo.
