Insisting that the elderly shouldn't be left behind, Las Piñas City lone district Rep. Camille Villar recently led the conduct of a medical mission for some 200 senior citizens from Barangays Talons 1 to 5.

Villar, a deputy speaker in the House of Representatives, said the activity held at Pag-Ibig Homes 2 in Barangay Talon 5, was part of her continuing advocacy to sustain healthy living and improve the lives of vulnerable citizens in her city.

The beneficiaries underwent free check-ups and consultations. They were also given free maintenance medicines during the event.

Meanwhile, indigent children were treated to free fast-food spaghetti on the sidelines of the medical mission.

“Mahalagang siguruhin natin na nananatiling malusog ang ating mga lolo at lola, at nanay at tatay," said Villar, a Nacionalista Party (NP) stalwart.

(It important to ensure that our grandparents and parents are healthy.)

"Ngayong laganap ang mga sakit dulot ng mataas na heat index at iba pang sari-saring sakit, kailangan ng mga senior citizens ng regular na check-up upang masiguro na malakas at malusog ang kanilang pangangatawan,” she noted.

(Now that sickness is in season due to the high heat index and different sickness, senior citizens need regular check-up to ensure that they remain strong and healthy.)

Villar has been helping indigent families, including those who belong to the vulnerable sector, improve their lives through medical and financial assistance.

She has likewise been giving assistance to poor pregnant moms, and helping entrepreneurs build their businesses and find jobs for the jobless, among others.
