LUCENA CITY, Quezon – One-thousand, two-hundred college students enrolled in State universities and private educational institutions received their P5,000 scholarship grant under the Alona scholarship program and the Office of the House Deputy Speaker during the payout on Tuesday, June 5, in a popular mall here.
Seven-hundred were from Sariaya and 500 were from this city.

The event was led by Deputy Speaker Quezon Rep. David C. Suarez and Alona party-list Rep. Anna V. Suarez. They were assisted by city councilor Dr. Edwin Pureza.
The Suarezes said they are now working for the release of their stipend for the second semester this year.
The scholarship program is a partnership among the Department of Social Welfare and Development-Aid to Individuals in Crisis Situation (AICS), the office of President Ferdinand R. Marcos Jr., and House Speaker Martin Romualdez.
Rep. Anna conducted the oathtaking for the scholars as members of the Alona Provincial United Scholars Organization in Quezon.
