Soldiers capture wounded NPA rebel in Kalinga

BALBALAN, Kalinga – Soldiers captured on June 6 a wounded New People’s Army rebel following an encounter in Sitio Saleng, Barangay Balantoy, this town, on May 31.

A NEW People’s Army rebel wounded in an encounter in Balbalan, Kalinga is taken to a hospital after he was captured by government troopers.

 The communist guerilla was identified as alias Akma and Simple of the Weakened Kilusang Larangang Gerilya Baggas of the Ilocos-Cordillera Regional Committee.

Akma was nabbed in an uninhabited area in Sitio Danga, Barangay Balantoy, Balbalan.

Troops brought him to the hospital.

Akma has warrants of arrest for attempted and frustrated murder.

The 503rd Infantry (Peace and Justice) Brigade, together with the Kalinga Provincial Task Force to End Local Communist Armed-Conflict, called on remaining members of the NPA to return to the fold of the law and be reintegrated back into society.
