These were burned through the thermal facility of the Cosmopolitan Funeral Homes here.
The destroyed illegal drugs were P373 million worth of shabu, ephedrine worth P1.1 million, and marijuana worth P284,000.
Their destruction was approved by the court, said PDEA-7 Director Emerson Margate.
Margate said more illegal drugs will be destroyed in the coming days after the court has approved the destruction.
He said destroying the seized illegal drugs erases doubts that they are being recycled.
Margate said recycling of seized illegal drugs is impossible as these are being closely monitored by the court and evidence custodian.
Allegations that seized illegal drugs are being recycled by law enforcers are baseless, Margate said.
“None of us would be willing to go to jail. I will also be jailed if I allow that some evidence will be missing. It will be very hard for evidence to disappear while in our possession because we are equipped with security cameras that are being monitored by offices,” said Margate.
