BACOLOD CITY – A woman and her friend were killed in a motorcycle accident in Sitio Barca, Barangay Jonob-Jonob, Escalante City, Negros Occidental on Wednesday, June 5.

Police identified the fatalities as Rafael Iwag of Sagay City, Negros Occidental and Analie Edano, 28, of Cadiz City, Negros Occidental.
Their companion, Eliza Villaplaza, 23, of Barangay Dian-ay, Escalante City, was injured.
Police Staff Sgt. Mark Janssen Guavez, traffic investigator of the Escalante City Police Station, said that Iwag and Edano were on their way to Barangay Dian-ay, Escalante City to bring Villaplaza, their back rider, home when they crashed.
Guavez said that Iwag, who was driving the motorcycle, was allegedly speeding while they were approaching a curve part of the road.
Iwag reportedly lost control over the motorcycle and overshot the shoulder of the road. They had no helmets.
He and Edano were declared dead in a hospital. Villaplaza is recovering in a hospital.
Guavez said that Iwag was allegedly drunk, according to his family, as he came from a gathering with friends.
