Man nabbed for shooting cop during Dasma anti-illegal gambling op

CAVITE â€“ Authorities arrested a man who shot a police officer during an anti-illegal gambling operation in DasmariÃ±as City on Monday, June 3.

The Cavite Police Provincial Office (PPO) identified the suspect as alias Mensuari.

According to the police report, authorities were conducting an anti-illegal gambling operation in Barangay H-2 when they encountered alias Mensuari.

The suspect allegedly drew a gun and fired at the authorities, hitting Staff Sergeant Jose A. Granados in the stomach and right leg before fleeing.

Granados was rushed to the hospital and is now in stable condition.

Following the incident, the DasmariÃ±as Component City Police Station (CCPS) conducted a hot pursuit operation, leading to the arrest of alias Mensuari, who sustained a gunshot wound on the chest.

The suspect was taken to the hospital for medical treatment.

In a statement, Police Regional Office 4A Director Brigadier General Paul Kenneth T. Lucas commended the Cavite PPO and DasmariÃ±as CCPS for their quick action, leading to the suspect's arrest without further casualties.
