The Malabon City government on Tuesday, June 4, conducted a road clearing operation and river clean-up drive in anticipation of the rainy season.

Members of the Public Safety and Traffic Management Office (PSTMO) and Mayor’s Complaint and Action Team (MCAT), together with Caloocan City’s Public Safety and Traffic Management Department (PSTMD), conducted a clearing operation along the boundary of Caloocan and Malabon in Dagat-Dagatan Avenue to Langaray Avenue.

The city government said eight motorcycles, four tricycles, and a pedicab were impounded while the owners of eight other vehicles were given violation receipts.
On the other hand, the local government unit (LGU), together with the Department of Environment and Natural Resources—Metropolitan Environmental Office (DENR-MEO)—North Office Estero Rangers, joined forces to clean the rivers and creeks in the city to prevent flooding.

The officials said that they have collected 19 sacks of garbage from Batasan River at Mega Dike, Barangay Dampalit, and 12 sacks from Tugatog Creek in Barangay Tugatog.
A total of 16 sacks of trash were collected from Dampalit River in Barangay Bayan-Bayanan and the Malabon-Navotas River in Barangay Tañong.

The estero rangers have also collected a total of 124 sacks of garbage from Letre Creek and Pinagsabugan Creek in Barangay Tonsuya, and Sucul River in the boundaries of Barangay Catmon and Tonsuya.
The LGU urged residents to refrain from disposing their garbage into rivers to prevent floods in the city.
