SM Entertainment issued a statement to deny the rumors.
“Currently, rumors about unspeakable provocative content, such as Johnny and Haechan's prostitution, drugs, etc., are being indiscriminately spread and reproduced online. We have confirmed that this is not true at all, and that this is a criminal act that seriously damages the artist's reputation,” the agency said.
It said, “In addition, in relation to this, the creation of untrue rumors and malicious slander continues towards NCT and our artists, including Kim Hee-chul.”
SM Entertainment said it will initiate legal action against netizens spreading the rumors regardless of nationality.
“We have already collected sufficient data on a number of posts related to the content in question, and we plan to not sit idly by and ensure that the relevant actors are legally punished without leniency or agreement, regardless of nationality,” it said.
It warned, “Please be aware that even at this moment, any act of posting malicious posts may be subject to punishment.”
Heechul also refuted the rumors on a fan platform, saying, "I'm telling you briefly here in case you're worried or disappointed. I have never once eaten or drank outside with my juniors in our company, or seen them or met them. I don't even have contact information."
