50-year-old man dies after being hit by a motorcycle in Sampaloc, Manila
A 50-year-old man died after he was accidentally hit by a motorcycle while crossing a street in Sampaloc, Manila, on Monday, June 3.
The Manila Police District Vehicular Traffic Investigation Section (MPD-VTIS) identified the victim as Michael Tambot, a resident of Sampaloc, Manila.
Based on the closed-circuit television (CCTV) footage gathered by the police, the motorcycle rider, identified as Jonathan Jarledo, was cruising along the southbound lane of Lacson Avenue in Sampaloc at around 4:30 p.m. on Monday.
Police said that upon reaching the ascending portion of the Nagtahan Flyover, the rider accidentally hit the victim, who was crossing the road.
Due to the strong impact, both the rider and the victim fell to the ground and sustained physical injuries.
Police said that the rider was brought to the Philippine Orthopedic Center for treatment.
The victim was rushed to the Jose Reyes Memorial Medical Center but was pronounced dead on arrival.
On Tuesday, June 4, police said they are still conducting further investigation while the rider remains at the hospital.
