CEBU CITY – The Police Regional Office-Central Visayas (PRO-7) has sent at least 100 policemen to Canlaon City in Negros Oriental to help maintain peace and order following the eruption of Kanlaon Volcano on Monday night, June 3.

Police Lt. Col. Gerard Ace Pelare, spokesperson of PRO-7 chief Police Brig. Gen. Anthony Aberin, said the augmentation personnel will also assist in evacuation and rescue efforts.
“We augmented around 100 police officers for this purpose and we will also deploy personnel in evacuation centers,” Pelare said in a press briefing on Wednesday, June 5.
Pelare said two evacuations centers have been identified and will be secured by policemen.
“One of our functions is to advance public safety and every time there is a calamity, we take an active role. We have search and rescue teams in every police units,” said Pelare.
Pelare said the PRO-7 has yet to receive reports of casualties or cases of missing individuals as a result of the eruption.
He assured that the PRO-7 will be ready to assist the local government unit of Negros Oriental to ensure the safety of its constituents.
