Stay alert: SMIC issues warning on phishing sites, online scams

SM Investments Corporation (SMCI) warned the public about phishing sites and online scams that mimic or duplicate the company's website to collect personal and confidential information.

“SMIC does not ask individuals for their personal information as part of its operations,” the company said in a statement.

“The public is strongly advised to exercise caution in their online activities to avoid falling prey to scams,” SMIC added.

Meanwhile, the company reassured the public that it is “actively taking down” phishing sites impersonating SMIC.

SMIC said it is also closely working with authorities to fight online scams using its names and subsidiaries.
