Scattered rains to persist in various parts of northern Luzon
The Philippine Atmospheric, Geophysical and Astronomical Services Administration (PAGASA) on Tuesday, June 4 said the frontal system is expected to bring scattered rain showers to some parts of northern Luzon over the next 24 hours.
Cloudy skies, scattered rain showers, and thunderstorms may prevail over Batanes, Cagayan, Isabela, Apayao, Abra, and Ilocos Norte due to the frontal system, a weather system formed by the convergence of warm and cold air.
PAGASA warned that flash floods or landslides may occur in these areas as a result of moderate to heavy rainfall.
Meanwhile, the easterlies, or warm air from the Pacific Ocean, will continue to bring partly cloudy to cloudy skies with isolated rain showers or thunderstorms across the rest of the country.
PAGASA also warned the public about possible flash floods or landslides during severe thunderstorms.
Weather specialist Rhea Torres said PAGASA has not monitored a low pressure area that may develop into a tropical cyclone and affect the country in the coming days.
She added that, along with the frontal system, the southwest monsoon, or “habagat,” may re-strengthen and bring scattered rain showers to various parts of the country by the end of this week.
