The Line 7 of the Metro Rail Transit, a 22-kilometer mass transport system from North Avenue in Quezon City to San Jose del Monte City in Bulacan is expected to start its partial operation by fourth quarter of 2024, the Department of Transportation (DOTr) said on Tuesday, June 4.

“Magpa-partial operations po tayo ng 12 stations by end of 2025 at inaasahan naman po na yung next station—station 13 [Tala Station] na magiging operational by end of 2026 (We will have partial operations of 12 stations by the end of 2025 and we expect the next station—station 13 [Tala Station] to be operational by the end of 2026)," said DOTr Assistant Secretary for Railways Jorjette B. Aquino.

She  said the completion of the Tala Station in Caloocan City is scheduled for the year 2026 while the San Jose del Monte Station in Bulacan is anticipated to be finished by 2027.

Aquino clarified that the DOTr is working with the local government of San Jose del Monte in Bulacan to reconfigure routes to enhance the quality of service provided to the residents.

The DOTr, Aquino said, is also contemplating on the construction of two stations that will be conveniently accessible to commuters.

The rail system, which runs 22 kilometers from North Avenue in Quezon City to San Jose del Monte City, Bulacan, was 70 percent complete as of May 2024.

Once completed, it is expected to reduce the travel time from Quezon City to San Jose del Monte, and vice versa, from around three hours to only 35 minutes.
