Power retailer Manila Electric Company (Meralco) has secured commitments from two large power consumers to participate in the government's interruptible load program (ILP).
In a statement on Tuesday, Jun3 4, Meralco said that Pioneer Float Glass Manufacturing, Inc. agreed to provide a two-megawatt (MW) de-loading capacity from its plant in Pasig City.
Likewise, Anglo Watsons Glass, Inc. has voluntarily de-loaded 1.3 MW from its facility in Calamba, Laguna.
Meralco said these agreements were taken to help manage demand in the Luzon Grid and prevent rotational power interruptions during times of low supply.

The ILP, a demand-side management program, encourages large-load customers to use their generator sets or reduce operations to ease the strain on the power grid.
Meralco's engagement with key industries and organizations has led to the enrollment of over 100 companies with more than 500-MW de-loading capacity in the ILP program.
Ma. Cecilia M. Domingo, Meralco vice president and head of enterprise and national government, said ILP will support households and small businesses by minimizing power interruptions.
“These commitments reflect our shared dedication to alleviating strain on the power grid, ultimately benefiting thousands of small businesses and households by minimizing rotational power interruptions,” Domingo said.
