Man dies as motorcycle rams kalesa in Ilocos Sur

VIGAN CITY, Ilocos Sur – A man died after his motorcycle crashed into a horse-drawn carriage or kalesa on Quirino Boulevard in Barangay VI here on Saturday, June 1.

Police identified the victim as Antonio Paet Navarrete, 24, a resident of Barangay IX, Vigan City.

Investigation said the victim was under the influence of liquor while driving the motorcycle and accidentally rammed the rear of the kalesa.

The victim sustained serious injuries and was taken to a hospital where he was declared dead.

Kalesa driver Mario T. Santella, 30, of Barangay Don Lorenzo Querubin, Caoayan, Ilocos Sur, was unhurt.
