Canlaon city gov't orders evacuation of residents living downstream from Kanlaon
BACOLOD CITY – The city government of Canlaon in Negros Oriental has ordered the mandatory evacuation of residents living within three meters from rivers downstream from Kanlaon Volcano after it erupted on Monday night, June 3.

In an executive order dated June 4, Mayor Jose Chubasco Cardenas said that rivers downstream from the volcano are at risk of flashfloods, mudflows, and other hazards due to volcanic ash deposition and potential lava.
Cardenas said that the eruption has resulted in increased volcanic activity and potential hazards to surrounding areas.
He stressed that the safety and well-being of residents are of utmost importance.
Cardenas directed residents to go to the designated evacuation centers for their safety.
