MPD announces successful implementation of 'Ligtas SUMVAC' operations
Manila Police District (MPD) announced the successful implementation of “Ligtas SUMVAC 2024” in Manila from April 1 to May 31.
"As the summer vacation season draws to a close, the MPD under the leadership of Brigadier General Thomas Arnold Ibay is proud to announce the successful implementation of safety measures during the Ligtas SUMVAC 2024 in the City of Manila," MPD said.
MPD said it intensified its police visibility and maximum police presence in various areas of convergence such as seaports, bus terminals, and other transportation hubs to monitor the influx of tourists and travelers in the city.
Additional Police Assistance Desks (PADs) were also installed in malls, parks, and other crowded places to make the police more accessible to the public.
Manila police said the foot patrol was intensified to safeguard the homes of residents who were away on vacation to prevent any form of criminal activity.
Likewise, continuous posting of infographics on various social media platforms against criminality and terrorism was initiated.
“We are delighted to report a peaceful summer season this year, thanks to the hard work and dedication of the men and women of MPD, the Local Government Unit, other concerned agencies, stakeholders, and the Manileños for being vigilant for this year’s Summer Season,” MPD Chief Ibay said.
“Together, we can create a safe and welcoming environment for all. We assure you that we will continue to intensify the security coverage within the City of Manila,” he added.
