A 33-year-old man was arrested by the police for illegal possession of firearms at a checkpoint on Sunday, June 2, the Makati City Police said.
The suspect was identified as "Jonathan," a resident of Barangay Olympia in Makati.
The police said Jonathan was flagged down while riding his motorcycle by police officers conducting an Oplan Sita operation in Barangay Guadalupe Nuevo due to multiple traffic violations which includes the unauthorized use of a blinker, not wearing a safety helmet, and operating a motorcycle without side mirrors.
During the routine verification process, the officers noticed a pistol tucked on the suspect’s waist, prompting them to ask him for his firearm's documents. However, he failed to produce any.
