Gogoro PH to tap prepaid market

Gogoro Philippines, the innovative leader in electric mobility and battery-swapping technology, is set to make its high-tech, smart scooters accessible to a broader segment of the Filipino population through prepaid offerings.

The firm is a partnership between Globe Telecom's 917Ventures Inc., Ayala Corporation, and Taiwan's Gogoro. Since its commercial launch in December 2023, Gogoro has established itself as a premium brand known for superior quality and advanced features.

It initially focused on the upper socio-economic segment, but is expanding its scope given growing interest from other market segments.

To make its innovative two-wheel batteries-swapping ecosystem more accessible to a wider population, Gogoro is looking to introduce new energy plans for the prepaid market without a lockup period.

It is also looking at offering more affordable financing options in the second quarter of this year, followed by budget-friendly scooter models in the third quarter.

“We hear you and we will soon respond to this clamor as we complete the other critical components of the ecosystem. We’re finding the price to speak for your budget," said Gogoro Philippines President and CEO Bernie Llamzon.

He added that “customers have praised the smart and high-tech features of Gogoro scooters, plus its riding comfort and ease of battery-swapping, which distinguish them from traditional two-wheelers.”

As it makes its presence felt, Gogoro is expanding its network of GoStations to ensure that customers can enjoy uninterrupted rides without worrying about running out of battery.

GoStations provide convenient and accessible charging solutions through battery-swapping technology.

From just five GoStations at the end of last year, Gogoro has already added nine more within Metro Manila and plans to add another seven before the quarter ends, bringing the total to over 21.

Gogoro is also looking at expanding geographically, targeting specific cities and towns in North and Central Luzon, the Visayas, and Mindanao. This is part of Gogoro’s commitment to making electric mobility accessible to more Filipinos.
