The Department of Information and Communications Technology (DICT) said on Monday, June 3, that over 72 million individuals can now access their National IDs through the eGov application.

"Who here already has the plastic (physical or PVC version) of the national ID? Who here has the paper (temporary version of the national ID)? And who here still doesn't have either the plastic or the paper version," Undersecretary for e-Government David L. Almirol Jr. said during the National ICT Month kick off at the Philippine International Convention Center (PICC) in Pasay City.
"Well, you don't need to wait anymore. Just download eGov PH, and you'll have it on your phone," he added in a mix of English and Filipino.
Almirol noted that there are over 85 million registered users under the Philippine Statistics Authority (PSA) registration system, and the DICT has generated over 72 million digital IDs in the eGov app.
"So, 72 million people can now benefit from their digital ID," the undersecretary said.
The eGov PH, or the e-Government Philippines Super App, is a mobile application designed to streamline interactions between the government and citizens.
Its goal is to serve as a comprehensive platform that brings together various government sectors into one online system, minimizing financial burdens for citizens.
Currently, there are over four million eGov users.
As of April, over half of the Filipinos who registered in the National ID system have received their physical cards, with approximately 35.94 million citizens still awaiting theirs.
Around 50.06 million Philippine Identification (PhilID) cards have been successfully delivered nationwide, out of the 86.01 million individuals who have registered.

In September 2023, the agency announced that President Marcos had issued a directive to the DICT due to delays in the physical distribution of the national ID.
The directive ordered the implementation of a "parallel" digitalized issuance of the national ID.

Meanwhile, Almirol also highlighted the over 50 million data exchange (DX) user cases
"Example, if PSA did the biometrics already, other government agencies should not do the same," he said.
"Meaning, in the future, we don't need to fall in line to respective offices. We can renew our permits, our documents. We can renew our permits, our documents, without even falling in line to government offices and premises," he explained.
