COMPUTEX, one of the world's most prominent technology exhibitions, has a rich history that dates back to 1981. Originally known as the Taipei Computer Show, it began as a platform for small and medium-sized businesses in Taiwan's budding computer industry to showcase their products. Over the years, it has transformed into a global stage for cutting-edge innovations, industry trends, and strategic partnerships.

The inaugural Taipei Computer Show, organized by the Taiwan External Trade Development Council (TAITRA) and the Taipei Computer Association (TCA), took place in 1981. At that time, Taiwan was emerging as a hub for technology manufacturing, and the expo provided a space for local companies to display their hardware, software, and peripherals. The event primarily focused on personal computers, components, and accessories.

At the fourth expo, visionary Stan Shih, a Taiwanese businessman and engineer who is the co-founder and honorary chairman of Acer, proposed changing the name to COMPUTEX, reflecting the industry's broader scope beyond just computers. This transition marked a pivotal moment in the event's history. COMPUTEX became synonymous with innovation, attracting global players, industry leaders, and tech enthusiasts.

Fast forward to 2024, and COMPUTEX continues to thrive. Here are the key highlights of this year's event:

1. Connecting AI: COMPUTEX positions itself as a platform that bridges the gap between artificial intelligence (AI) technologies and real-world applications. From AI computing to machine learning, attendees could explore the latest advancements shaping our digital future.
