2 killed in 2-vehicle crash in Ilocos Sur

SINAIT, Ilocos Sur – A couple was killed and two others were injured in an accident involving a modified tricycle and a car on the national highway in Barangay Jordan here on Sunday afternoon, June 2.

Police identified the fatalities as Robert T. Yagin, 37, driver of the modified tricycle, and Lyka A. Montemayor, 29, back rider, both residents of Barangay Katipunan, Sinait.

Investigation disclosed that the fast-moving modified tricycle allegedly encroached the lane and collided with a Toyota Vios. The couple sustained serious injuries and was declared dead in a hospital.

Ruth E. Aglipay, 36, driver of the Toyota Vios, resident of Barangay Poblacion 2, Currimao, Ilocos Norte, and Janine S. Valencia, 11, passenger and resident of Barangay Bungkag, Dingras, Ilocos Norte, were injured.

Police took Aglipay into custody and a follow-up probe on the incident is ongoing.
