Go visited this province to inaugurate a super health center in Barangay Alegria here and led the distribution of relief assistance to Persons with Disabilities (PWD) and barangay health workers.
He said that the WPS belongs to the Philippines and Filipinos should not give up even a single square foot of its territory to China.
“What is ours is ours. Karapatan natin na ipaglaban ang para sa atin (We have the right to fight for what is ours),” Go said.
He urged the Chinese Coast Guard to stop bullying Filipino sailors and must respect the sovereignty of the Philippines.
The senator called for a diplomatic resolution to deescalate the tension between the Philippines and China on the WPS.
On June 17, the Chinese Coast Guard blocked a civilian vessel commissioned by Philippine Navy to conduct routinary and resupply (RORE) mission for Filipino soldiers stationed at the grounded Philippine Navy vessel on Ayungin Shoal which is within the Philippine maritime territory also being claimed by China.
The Department of Foreign Affairs has issued a note verbale to China following the incident in which Chinese Coast Guard personnel wielding bladed weapons foiled a PN attempt to resupply troops stationed on BRP Sierra Madre.
The move resulted in injuries to Filipino troops, including a Navy service member who lost his thumb. Footage released showed the Chinese Coast Guard looting items and damaging boats, including navigational and communication equipment.
