A total of 1,598 applicants were hired on the spot during the job fair hosted by the Department of Labor and Employment (DOLE) in celebration of the country's 126th Independence Day on June 12.
DOLE-National Capital Region (NCR) Regional Director lawyer Sarah Buena Mirasol said the 1,598 applicants were among the 11,477 job seekers who participated in the job fair sites in the NCR.
In the same report, a total of 2,056 job seekers used the services of the National Bureau of Investigation, the Social Security System, the Professional Regulation Commission, the Philippine Health Insurance Corporation, the Philippine Statistics Authority, and the Pag-IBIG Fund.
Mirasol highlighted the significant role of all local government units, their public employment service offices, and the support of other government agencies and partner employers in the successful conduct of the job fair.
She also asked everyone to help one another and follow the bravery of the Filipino heroes who battled to end the current economic crisis.
“Sa kabila ng matinding hamon ng krisis sa ating ekonomiya, nawa ang kagitingan at kabayanihan na ipinamalas ng ating mga bayani sa pagkamit ng ating kasarinlan ay magsilbing tanglaw, inspirasyon, at sandigan ng bawat Pilipino patungo sa makabago at progresibong bansa (Despite the obstacles faced during the economic crisis, let the courage and valor exhibited by our heroes in securing our independence act as a guiding light, motivation, and pillar of strength for all Filipinos in building a contemporary and advanced nation)," she said.
