Two motorcycle-riding men who robbed a man using a replica gun were arrested on June 22, the Makati City Police announced Friday, June 28.
Based on the police report, the victim identified as "John" sought assistance from the police after he was robbed by two men riding a motorcycle along Gil Puyat Ave. corner Medina St. in Barangay Pio Del Pilar, Makati City.
The robbers took the victim's phone worth P30,000 and escaped on a blue Yamaha Mio scooter without a plate number.
The police conducted a follow-up operation against the suspects, and spotted them at an intersection on Amorsolo St. corner Dela Rosa St. in Barangay San Lorenzo.
One of the suspects was caught by the police after being positively identified by John. However, the other suspect identified as "Anthony," managed to escape.
Recovered from the suspect were a replica gun with a loaded magazine and the getaway motorcycle.
Later, Anthony was caught by members of the Makati City Police SWAT in a follow-up operation at his home.
The duo are now detained at the Makati City Police Station and were charged with robbery under Article 293 of the Revised Penal Code, and violation of Republic Act 10591 or the Comprehensive Law on Firearms and Ammunition Regulation Act.
