LEGAZPI CITY, Albay – Local government units (LGUs) in the province of Masbate backed the Department of Information and Communications Technology (DICT) program that aims to streamline all government transactions and the digitalization push of President Ferdinand Marcos Jr.’s administration.

Led by DICT-Bicol officer-in-charge director Rachel Ann Grabador, the agency launched the eGovPH super app and eLGU system in Masbate which was attended by local chief executives and representatives of LGUs.
Gabrador said the launching was successful after all LGUs in the province expressed support to the program.
"This strong show of support both from the DICT Central Office and the Masbate provincial leadership is a testament to the importance of this program for the Philippines. This is in accordance with the mandate of President Marcos to upgrade the government system and make sure that it is being implemented on the local level. This is part of the key initiatives of the President’s Bagong Pilipinas Movement designed to get the country at par with its neighbors in Asia for the digitalization of public services," Gabrador said.
Ramon Jamos, assistant provincial administrator who represented Gov. Antonio Kho, said that the province fully supports the government's digital transformation through the initiative of DICT.
"Despite the inavailability of our beloved governor, he likewise expressed grateful appreciation especially to DICT for this project. Our beloved governor recognizes this as very vital especially in the delivery of public services. Napakaganda ng programang ito ng DICT ngayon (This DICT program is very good)," Jamos said.
Among those who attended the launching were DICT Masbate provincial officer Zycar Ong, DICT project director Liza Rabena, Mandaon Mayor Kristine Salve Hao Kho, and representatives from LGUs and national government agencies.
Mayor Kho said that the app is a big step towards modernizing the quality of public services that the local government of Mandaon is extending to its constituents.
"This day is an indication, it is a sign of our commitment towards improving the services na binibigay natin sa mga tao (we are giving to the people). This day is our commitment to an efficient and collaborative government services. This is very relevant and very timely especially for the LGU of Mandaon because our LGU is the sole recipient in the entire province of Masbate of the SMART and Sustainable Communities of DOST," Kho said.
She envisioned that Mandaon will be the next science and technology capital of the province of Masbate.
