The Department of Labor and Employment (DOLE) reiterated its commitment to continue working with the International Labour Organization (ILO) in renewing the Philippine social contract as it participated in this year's International Labour Conference (ILC).
In a statement Friday, June 28, Labor Secretary Bienvenido E. Laguesma said the social contract within the workforce includes government workers, laborers, employers, and their associations.
He highlighted the need for this contract to evolve over time, ensuring it aligns with global labor standards and national systems.
The collaboration, Laguesma said, involves improving policy coordination, sharing knowledge, updating frameworks, and mobilizing resources for focused development.
The country also aims to strengthen democratic institutions and facilitate constructive dialogue among stakeholders, the labor chief said.
Laguesma outlined the Philippines' strategies to promote decent work, focusing on green jobs, modernizing vocational education, and enhancing productivity in small enterprises and agriculture.
He also underscored the Philippines' proactive approach to fostering equitable and sustainable development through robust labor policies and international cooperation.
