Marcos on Dutertes' political plans : It's a free country, they're allowed to do what they want
The Dutertes "are allowed to do whatever they want" because it is a free country.
This was President Marcos' reaction to the plan of the Dutertes to run in the mid-term elections and presidential polls in 2028.

He said it was still early to talk about the plan of former president Rodrigo Duterte and his two sons—Paolo and Sebastian —to run in the senate election in 2025, and Sebastian's plan to seek the presidency in 2028.
"It’s a free country. They’re allowed to do whatever they want," Marcos said in an interview on the sidelines of the National Employment Summit at the Manila Hotel on Thursday, June 27.
"I really have no reaction to it besides, it’s still early. We’re talking about 2028, madami pa pangyayari (a lot will still happen) between now and 2028. And the only real situation will become clear in October, during the filing (of candidacy)," Marcos added.
The President, who was Vice President Sara Duterte's runningmate in the 2022 elections, further said that the final picture of the elections will be revealed in October and whether or not the plan of the Dutertes will materialize.
"Then we will see really kung tatakbo ba talaga, sino ba talaga tatakbo, sino, kanino sasama (who will run, which party), which parties are involved, which parties are in alliance, dun lang natin makikita sa Oktubre (we will only see it in October) so all of this announcements, tingnan natin kung matutuloy pagdating sa Oktubre (let's see if this will push through in October)," Marcos said.
Marcos also stated that the plan of the former first family to run in the polls will not affect the UniTeam—a coalition between him and the Vice President in the previous election.
He, however, said that the stand of UniTeam will depend on who the Vice President supports in the upcoming elections.
"You have to remember, the PDP was never a part of the UniTeam. PDP was never part of Uniteam kahit na nung election (even during the election), so it does not change anything for the UniTeam. Depende lang kung ano position ni Inday Sara pagdating sa election, siya ba ay nasa administrasyon o siya ba ay nasa oposisyon (It depends on Inday Sara's position in the upcoming elections, if she will be with the administration or the opposition)," Marcos said.
"That will be the only major determinant," he added.
