LPA in Mindanao dissipates — PAGASA

The low pressure area (LPA) embedded along the intertropical convergence zone (ITCZ) dissipated on Thursday morning, June 27, said the Philippine Atmospheric, Geophysical and Astronomical Services Administration (PAGASA).

The LPA, which was last located 45 kilometers east-northeast of Dipolog City, Zamboanga del Norte, brought rains to most of Mindanao before dissipating on Thursday.

PAGASA said that although the LPA has dissipated, the ITCZ may still bring scattered rain showers and thunderstorms to Palawan in the next 24 hours.

ITCZ is a convergence of winds from the northern and southern hemispheres where rain-bearing clouds form.

PAGASA warned of potential flash floods or landslides in the vulnerable areas of Palawan.

Meanwhile, the rest of the country may experience partly cloudy to cloudy weather conditions with isolated rain showers or thunderstorms.

PAGASA also advised the public to remain vigilant as severe thunderstorms can lead to flash floods or landslides.

Based on the PAGASA’s forecast for June 28, the likelihood of rainfall varies across key cities: Metro Manila (60 percent), Laoag City (80 percent), Baguio City (60 percent), Legazpi City (60 percent), Puerto Princesa City (40 percent), Metro Cebu (40 percent), Bacolod City (40 percent), Cagayan de Oro City (30 percent), Metro Davao (30 percent), and Zamboanga City (40 percent).
