The Department of Health (DOH) on Wednesday, June 26, urged the public to be aware that the use of illicit drugs has many harmful long-term effects on health and communities.

"Maraming masamang pangmatagalang epekto sa kalusugan at komunidad ang paggamit ng masamang droga. Nasa iyong kamay ang desisyon na huwag simulan o tumigil sa paggamit nito," DOH said in social media post.
(The use of illicit drugs has many harmful long-term effects on health and communities. The decision not to start or to stop using these substances lies in your hands).
This is in line with the International Day Against Drug Abuse and Illicit Trafficking (IDADAIT), which is annually celebrated every June 26th.

The country's health department encouraged every family and community to support and promote a substance-free lifestyle for every Filipino.
DOH noted that the public can seek help and additional information from primary care centers or call the DOH Substance Use Helpline at 1550 or the NCMH Crisis Hotline at 1553.
"There are no winners in substance abuse. Avoid starting or stop using illicit drugs for a vibrant future!" DOH said in FIlipino.
