#MeriendaNiLuc: Kwek-kwek is EU envoy's favorite Pinoy street food
Is there anything more Pinoy than tasting the quintessential street foods such as kwek-kwek, kikiam, and chicken balls?
European Union Ambassador to the Philippines Luc Veron made his choice as to what Pinoy street food appeals to his palette: it’s kwek-kwek, which are quail eggs wrapped in an orange breading and dipped in sweet and sour sauce or vinegar.

“It was a tough call, but kwek-kwek was my personal favorite! I enjoyed mine with a mix of vinegar and sweet sauce,” he wrote on X (formerly Twitter), using hashtag #MeriendaNiLuc.
His latest #MeriendaNiLuc post, in which he tried different Pinoy snacks, was “a face-off between different tusok-tusok street food.”
Tusok-tusok is the street slang for Pinoy street food as it pertains to the act of using a barbecue stick to get the food straight from the wok, which vendors push around in a makeshift wooden cart.
In an earlier post, Veron even asked his followers on X which they prefer among the street food he tried.
He posted a photo of sticks of chicken balls, kwek-kwek, and kikiam, as well as a video of him dipping them into a concoction of sweet brown sauce, sweet and sour sauce, and vinegar.
Earlier #MeriendaNiLuc posts showed the ambassador trying pili nuts, peach mango pie, Choc Nut, and taho, among others.
