Mayor Honey calls on barangay leaders to boost Manileños' fire safety awareness

Manila Mayor Honey Lacuna called on barangay authorities to expand its information dissemination efforts about fire safety and prevention following the recent fire incidents in the city.
The mayor made the appeal as she and Vice Mayor John Marvin "Yul Servo" Nieto and Department of Social Welfare Head Re Fugoso led the distribution of financial assistance to a total of 203 families who were left homeless by fire incidents.
Lacuna-Pangan noted that a total of seven fire incidents hit Manila from June 13 to 24 this year alone. She added that five of the fire incidents occurred in the First District of Tondo and one in each for Districts 2 and 4.
The city government gave financial assistance worth P10,000 to each of the affected families, while P3,000 cash were given to seven individuals living on their own.
Fugoso said the total amount of assistance distributed was over P2 million.
