'Magbagong buhay': Antipolo LGU offers free treatment, rehabilitation for PWUDs
Antipolo City Mayor Jun Ynares called on people who use drugs (PWUDs) and want to turn a leaf to avail of the city's free drug treatment and rehabilitation.

Ynares made the statement on Wednesday, June 26, after he said that some drug dependents had already finished their rehabilitation, while others are starting with theirs.
In March, a drug patient named "Reah" was released from the Department of Health-Treatment and Rehabilitation Center (DOH-TRC) Bicutan after eight months of treatment and rehab.
He added that Reah is now undergoing aftercare programs, which according to DOH-TRC, “is a continuum of care which follows after a minimum of six months to one year of residential treatment... It focuses on the gradual reintegration of the recovering drug dependent (RDD) into their family and society. It focuses on empowerment to maintain sobriety and prevent relapse.”
Meanwhile, on June 21, a certain "Gail," 39, was also admitted to the drug rehabilitation center to undergo various interventions, treatments, and rehab programs that would help her change her life.
Ynares said that all drug dependents, like Gail and the other previous drug addicts and patients who were brought to the rehab center, no longer have to worry about the expenses.
He said that the P15,000 payment every month for the rehab and treatment will be covered by the local government and DOH-TRC Bicutan on a 50-50 basis.
Aside from Gail, Antipolo LGU also enrolled other patients in the rehab center, such as "Gie," admitted in December 2023, Ben in February, and Rob, admitted just this March.
“Sa mga nasa parehong kalagayan (drug addicts or drug dependents) at nangangailangan po ng similar treatment and rehabilitation, magsabi lang po sa aming tanggapan. Wala po kayong iintindihin sa gastusin. Sagot ng pamahalaan lahat... magbagong buhay lamang (For those who are in the same situation (drug addicts or drug dependents) and need similar treatment and rehabilitation, just tell our office. You don't have to worry about the expenses. The local government will cover everything... just to give you all the changes and another chance in life),” the mayor said.
