For Senate President Francis "Chiz" Escudero, a lot can still happen in terms of political bids in the May 2025 polls.
Escudero pointed this out as he weighs in on Vice President Sara Duterte's disclosure that former president Rodrigo Duterte, Davao City 1st District Rep. Paolo Duterte, and Davao City Mayor Sebastian Duterte are all planning gunning for a Senate seat.

"Para sa akin matagal pa ang last day of filing at madami pang pwede mangyari tulad ng nakita natin sa mga nagdaang panahon (For me the last day of filing and a lot can still happen like what we've seen in the past)," Escudero said in a message to reporters on Wednesday, June 26.
He added that they have right to run for office and the public has the right to choose who they want to serve in any government position.
The Vice President had shared the information in an interview in Cagayan de Oro City where she hosted the annual OVP Pride Reception.
“Lahat silang raring na tumakbo eh—PRRD, senator. Iyong kuya ko, si Paolo Duterte, iyong congressman ngayon, senator. Si Sebastian Duterte (All of them are raring to run—PRRD, senator. My older brother, Paolo Duterte, the congressman now, also senator. Sebastian Duterte, too),” she told reporters.
“Yes, tatlo ang Duterte next year for senator (Yes, there will be three Dutertes next year as senator),” she stressed when asked if her pronouncement was a confirmation.
Asked whether or not she will resign from the Office of the Vice President (OVP), she replied: “Wala. Walang ganun na usapan (We did not talk about it).”
