Police Capt. Rodel Ragasa, chief of police here, said that according to the five fishermen from this town – three from Barangay Puro, one from Barangay Alangan, and one from Barangay Miramar – they found these items about 42 nautical miles west of Ilocos Norte.
These had Chinese markings similar to those recovered in Barangay Solotsolot, San Juan, and Barangay Villamar, Caoayan.
The five fishermen immediately reported their discovery to the chairman of Barangay Puro upon returning to shore. The barangay chairman in turn relayed this to the police here.
Ragasa said that the recovered packs were subjected to laboratory tests at the Ilocos Sur Provincial Police Forensic Unit for confirmation.
He added that their value is subject to estimate based on the prevailing standard price of illegal drugs released by the Dangerous Drug Board (DDB).
Police later on confirmed that they are shabu.
They were presented to Ilocos Sur Provincial Board Member Efren Rafanan and Magsingal Mayor Alrico Favis.
