Romualdez: House bent on passing final three Marcos priority bills before end of 19th Congress

House Speaker Martin Romualdez has vowed to pass the remaining three of the 28 bills identified by the Legislative Executive Development Advisory Council (LEDAC) for approval before the conclusion of the 19th Congress next year.
Romualdez gave this commitment on Tuesday, June 25 after attending a Legislative Executive Development Advisory Council (LEDAC) meeting in Malacañang. President Marcos presided over the meeting.
“Most of the [25] 0bills are already in their final stages and approved by the House of Representatives. We are committed to approving the remaining three of the 28 measures named during our LEDAC meeting with President Bongbong Marcos, Senate President Chiz Escudero, and other officials," he said.
"These legislative measures are crucial to the country's development agenda,” noted the House leader.
The final three pending LEDAC bills in the House of Representatives are the proposed amendments to the Electric Power Industry Reform Act of 2001 or EPIRA (currently under technical working group/ committee deliberations), proposed amendments to the Agrarian Reform Law (for committee deliberations), and the proposed amendments the Foreign Investors’ Long-Term Lease Act (no bill filed).
Romualdez said Marcos underscored the need to approve these bills to help drive national progress and address significant concerns facing the country.
"The President has emphasized the importance of passing these measures to advance the policies of the Marcos administration for the country’s continued economic recovery, progress, and stability of our nation,” said Romualdez, Leyte's 1st district representative.
He reiterated his high confidence in a having a better working set-up and closer relationship with the Senate under Escudero. Tuesday was Escudero’s first LEDAC meeting as Senate chief.
“We are dedicated to working together and diligently to achieve our shared goals of passing these measures before the end of the 19th Congress,” Romualdez said.
The third and final regular session of the 19th Congress will run from July 22, 2024 to June 6, 2024.
