Navotas LGU awards scholarship grant to 2 public school teachers, 26 students


The Navotas City government on Monday, June 24, awarded scholarship grants to a total of 28 beneficiaries including two public school teachers for School Year 2024-2025.

The beneficiaries includes 15 incoming high school freshmen, 11 incoming college freshmen, and two teachers for higher education.

“Education is the key to a brighter future for our youth and our community. Through the NavotaAs Scholarship Program, we invest in the potential of both our students and teachers. We strive to support their academic pursuits and help them achieve their dreams,” Mayor John Rey Tiangco said.

To qualify for the high school scholarship, applicants must belong to the top 10 percent of the graduating elementary class, while Navotas Polytechnic College scholars must come from the top 25 percent of the senior high school graduating class, and merit scholars must be among the top 10 of the senior high school graduating class.

Applicants were also required to undergo a qualifying exam and an interview.

The city government gives high school scholars P18,000 per academic year for book, transportation, and food allowance.

Navotas Polytechnic College scholars get P22,000 per academic year for tuition, book, transportation, and food allowance.

Meanwhile, merit scholars, who can attend any college or university in Metro Manila, are given P262,000 for the same.

Teacher scholars receive P75,000 every academic year for their tuition; book, transportation, and food allowance; and research grant.
