Employee drowns in Batangas

LIAN, Batangas – A 21-year-old employee drowned in the sea in Barangay Luyahan, this town, on Monday afternoon, June 24.

Police identified the victim as Mark Merto of Bagong Silang, Caloocan City.

Merto was swimming when he was dragged into deep water by strong current and waves and drowned.

A witness reported the incident to the resort owner who sought the assistance of the police and barangay officials.

The victim's body was retrieved and taken to a hospital in Nasugbu, Batangas where he was declared dead.

Police said no foul play was noted on the victim during doctor’s examination.
