Couple killed as tricycle collides with tanker

NAGUILIAN, Isabela – A couple was killed when their tricycle collided with a tanker on the national highway in Barangay Magsaysay here on Sunday afternoon, June 23.

The victims’ son and parents were injured in the accident, said Police Major Ferdinand A. Datul, town chief of police.

Datul identified the fatalities as Dominic Denna and his wife, Rosalie, and the injured were their one-year-old son and his grandparents, Domingo, the tricycle driver, and Mary Grace.

Investigation said Domingo lost control of the tricycle when one of its tires burst and crashed into the tanker driven by Edison Calipjo, a 25-year-resident of Cauayan City, Isabela.

The victims sustained injuries and were taken to a hospital where the couple died. The injured are under observation in the hospital.

Datul said Calipjo is under police custody. A compromise agreement between Calipjo and the victims’ relatives are being prepared, Datul added.
