Gang member shot dead in gun buy-bust

TACLOBAN CITY â€“ A member of a criminal gang was killed in a firearms buy-bust operation on Monday, June 24, in Sitio Tigbe, Barangay Capoocan, Calbayog City, Samar.

The suspect was identified as John Elvis Estinopo, a member of the Magbutay Criminal Gang, and a resident of Barangay Hamorawon, Calbayog.

Police apprehended the suspect for violation of Republic Act 10591, the Comprehensive Firearms and Ammunition Regulation Act, after he sold a gun to a poseur-buyer.

Estinopo drew a gun and fired at apprehending lawmen.

Police returned fire and hit the suspect who was taken to the Calbayog District Hospital where he was declared dead.
