Zamora, 21, impressed the three judges to tally his 13th win and gave Meza his first loss after nine fights in their eight-round bout.

Paris Olympics-bound boxer Eumir Marcial congratulated his compatriot on his social media post.

“Viva Filipino! Congratulations on the W,” Marcial wrote.

There was no knockdown recorded but Zamora's activity and command throughout the match proved to be enough to earn the judges' nods.

The future looks bright for Zamora, who formerly enrolled in Floyd Mayweather’s summer camp in 2011 where he displayed his skills at a very young age.

Mayweather said Zamora, an avid fan of Manny Pacquiao, could be the next big thing in boxing: “This is my champ and this is the future.”

The Bob Arum-owned promotions is home to current Filipino fighters including Jerwin Ancajas (super flyweight), Genesis Servania (featherweight) and Rio Olympian Charly Suarez (super featherweight), and previously by boxing icons in the likes of Pacquiao and Nonito Donaire.

Zamora signed a long-term contract with Top Rank Boxing a few days before his clash against Meza.
