Tot falls to death into well in Himamaylan City

BACOLOD CITY – A one-year-old boy died after falling into a well in Barangay Cabadiangan, Himamaylan City, Negros Occidental on Friday, June 21.

Police Lt. Col. Anthony Grande, Himamaylan police chief, said the victim was found unconscious inside the well, about an hour after the family searched for him.

Grande said the victim’s parents told their 12-year-old son to look for his younger brother as they were about to eat breakfast. However, he did not heed his parent’s order.

The family proceeded with breakfast and assumed that the victim was just in their neighbor’s house.

His family learned that he was missing when they checked their neighbor.

The victim was taken to a hospital where he was declared dead.

Grande said the well was six meters away from the victim’s house and was uncovered and five- to six-feet deep.

The well was almost full of water because of rain the past days, he added.
