With her iconic comedy skits and impersonations, Nanette Inventor was known for her famous role as Doña Buding on The Penthouse Live! in 1982 with Martin Nievera and Pops Fernandez.
Celebrating 41 years in the showbiz industry, Nanette has also encountered the pros and cons of being famous for her role: a rich and snobbish social climber.
During her management contract signing with Viva held at their main office in Ortigas on June 18, Nanette shared a memory where she was attacked by a woman, during one of her shows at the Folk Arts Theater in Pasay.
"I was wearing a necklace that was studded pero ‘PNB’ ’yon, pwet ng baso. Tapos hinila [nung babae] ’yon, nagkasugat ako tsaka nasakal ako. Akala ko talaga mamamatay ako! Nagalit siya, sabi niya ‘Amin na ’yan! Bebenta ko! Nagugutom kami dito!" Nanette shared.
(I was wearing a necklace that was studded, but it was 'PNB', a glass butt. Then [the woman] pulled that, I was injured, and I was strangled. I thought I was going to die! She got angry and said, "Give me that! I will sell it because we're getting hungry)
After that incident, Nanette was scared that people believed she was rich, but then, she eventually realized that some people might not have the concept of satire comedy.
"Akala nila naghihirap sila dahil sa mga taong katulad ko. It broke me for a while. But then, I realized it was because they don't know what satire is. They probably don’t know these things,” she said.

Although she had some bad moments, Nanette is still grateful for all the opportunities and people she met in her career.
"The advantages were it made me popular, it made people think about themselves with what they’re saying, they may have been ridiculed because of that. Parang nakapagbigay ka ng leksyon because you are imparting something from them to learn from," she added.

As the newest member of Viva Artists Agency, Nanette is ready to showcase her knack for entertainment even more, allowing more audiences to see why she has been in the business for a long time.
Embracing the senior life
With her new title as the "Queen of Maintenance Medicine," the veteran comedienne-singer openly shared that she has Type 2 diabetes, asthma, and hypertension.
During a panel discussion with the pharmaceutical company GSK (formerly GlaxoSmithKline) last June 21 at the Grand Hyatt Hotel in BGC, Nanette was one of the panel members discussing RSV (Respiratory Syncytial Virus) awareness.
As a senior with comorbidities, Nanette gave a short message that people still need to be proactive and healthy to live happier lives.
"Kailangan maging pro-active ka sa inyong health. Invest in your health; you need it every day. Stay happier," Nanette said
